Extensive Renovations Planned: Aroundtown upgrades Hotel and HanseDom in Stralsund

New lease signed with Sunday Hotels / Complete hotel refurbishment and HanseDom modernization planned

A new lease agreement with Sunday Hotels was recently signed for Aroundtown's HanseDom hotel in Stralsund. The hotel will undergo a complete refurbishment, while key areas of the HanseDom will also be upgraded and expanded. The project is expected to be finished by early 2028.

The hotel will be reimagined with a design inspired by the Hanseatic heritage of Stralsund, creating a welcoming and homely environment for families and business travelers alike. All 114 existing rooms will be renovated, with additional rooms to be created through the conversion of existing office space.

The entire ground floor will also be redesigned. Plans include state-of-the-art digital check-in facilities, a shop, co-working spaces, refreshed meeting facilities and a new open-plan restaurant, bar and terrace. The new concept is designed to create an attractive destination for both travelers and the local community.

The HanseDom will also undergo extensive modernization, with a refreshed look and atmosphere throughout. Plans include new attractions, including completely new water slides, as well as a new food stall concept and a new digital guest journey. Substantial improvements to the mechanical and technical equipment are also planned, with a particular focus on enhancing energy efficiency and the guest experience. The fitness area and several pools will also be modernized.

The goal of this extensive modernization is to ensure the long-term viability of the entire complex, driving the sustainable development of both the hotel and the leisure, fitness, and sports facilities. As part of the planned project, the hotel areas will be completely overhauled. Due to the scale of the works, the hotel will need to close entirely on a temporary basis and will reopen once the renovations are complete.
